Debordieu Colony

 

DeBordieu Colony is a private oceanfront community in gorgeous Georgetown County. It is one of the oldest beachside communities on the eastern coast, yet almost one-third of the land is a wildlife preserve. According to legend, Marquis de Lafayette landed in the area and found it to be so beautiful that he claimed it must be the borderland of God (D'aborde Dieu). This is where the name DeBordieu is derived. With pristine, untouched lands and beautiful ocean views, there is a sense of peacefulness throughout the entire area. DeBordieu Colony is nestled quietly behind secure gates, just north of the historic Georgetown, and is considered one of South Carolina's most extraordinary communities.
